Hopefully you’ve already read the pages on this Web site that deal with the Search Engine Marketing (SEM) basics – Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Advertising. Now that you have a basic understanding of how the major search engines/directories work, what are they working on that will make them even more valuable to Web searchers in the future, and how will that affect YOUR SEM/SEO efforts?
Four of the most interesting new search engine features that are emerging are DESKTOP SEARCH, LOCAL SEARCH, PERSONALIZED SEARCH, and CATEGORIZED SEARCH. The first 3, and especially Desktop Search, have ALL recently been projected to be the “next big thing” in search, while the last has been projected to be the “next big thing” for the last 2-3 years.
